R

eiki is a form of energy healing that can help reduce pain or discomfort, and emotional distress. Your practitioner will use gentle hand movements to guide the flow of healthy energy - this flow of energy reduces stress and promotes healing.

Reiki is a Japanese energy healing technique. The predominant form of Reiki practiced throughout the world today, also known as Usui reiki, was created by Dr. Mikao Usui in the early 20th century. It’s a complementary or alternative health approach. Reiki does not directly cure diseases or illnesses. Instead, it’s used as a way to manage symptoms and improve general well-being.

During a reiki session, the practitioner places their hands either directly on you or just above you to bring about healing. The belief is that the practitioner is able to stimulate your body’s natural healing abilities.

What are the

Benefits

Benefits of Reiki include: improves sleep, calms & relaxes the mind, reduces mental stress, reduces body aches & pains, and boosts immunity.

What to expect

IN-TREATMENT

At your first appointment, we will discuss the process and what your goals, expectations, or intentions are. We will also discuss any symptoms you want to be addressed or if there are places in your body that you want to focus on.

You will lie down, fully clothed, on a massage table. Reiki is offered through light, non-invasive touch with the practitioner’s hands placed and held on a series of locations on the head and front and back of the torso. Additional placements on the limbs can be done as needed, for example, if there is an injury or surgical scar.

Patients often experience heat in the practitioner’s hands, but sometimes the practitioner’s hands feel refreshingly cool. Other common experiences are subtle pulsations where the practitioner’s hands are placed or cascading waves of pulsations throughout the body.

Some patients fall into a deep, sleeplike meditative state. The most common experience is an almost immediate release of stress and a feeling of deep relaxation.

What to expect

Post-treatment

Although patients typically leave a Reiki session feeling refreshed, sometimes they notice feeling more tired in the evening than usual. Patients commonly report a sense of calm and mental clarity and sleeping well after Reiki.

You may notice other changes that continue to unfold as the day goes on: perhaps stronger digestion, a sense of being more centered and poised and less reactive, and sleeping deeply that night.

Drink lots of water and follow your body’s needs.
