Testosterone Treatment for Women

Testosterone Treatment for Women

Testosterone is a steroid hormone that is vital in both women and men. In women, testosterone is responsible for:

  • sense of well being
  • energy
  • motivation
  • bone density
  • sex drive
  • muscle mass

Testosterone in women is produced in the ovaries and adrenal glands and production usually peaks at age 25 and then gradually declines through to menopause. Each pregnancy produces a further 15% drop in lasting testosterone production. These changes in balance between estrogen and testosterone can create undesirable symptoms.

Signs/Symptoms of Testosterone Deficiency in Women

    • Depression
    • Joint Pain
    • Pale face
    • Low energy
    • Dry skin
    • Poor concentration
    • Decreased muscle strength
    • Low libido
    • Poor memory
    • Dry eyes
    • Cellulite

Here at True Balance we prescribe physiologic doses of Testosterone to women in order to eliminate these undesirable symptoms. Many women will be prescribed a cream with Testosterone and BIEST combined for convenience.

Directions for Use:

Testosterone Cream comes in simple to use dispensers for easy application of your daily hormone dose.

DO:

  • Apply according to specific instructions (typically per vulva application for more reliable absorption and to avoid unwanted hair growth)
  • Apply to area where there is little or no hair growth
  • Apply cream in the morning AFTER showering
  • Apply cream after shower or after using the toilet to allow maximum absorption
  • Wait approx. 1 hr after application before using the toilet again
  • Keep the cream in a visible location to ensure consistent daily applications (ex. bathroom)

DO NOT:

  • Apply to abdomen if there is excess abdominal fat as it is converted into other hormones
  • Apply to regions with too much body hair as it does NOT absorb well
  • Apply in areas where hair growth is not desired as testosterone encourages hair growth
  • Store in direct sunlight

In order to work together to optimize your Testosterone levels it is important for you to be able to identify symptoms of excess Testosterone including:
