Microneedling is a minimally invasive treatment that can have a profound impact on the appearance of your skin. At True Balance, we offer the Eclipse MicroPen® - a handheld 12-tip micro-pen that vibrates at high power to pierce the superficial layer of your skin thousands of times over a few seconds. These controlled piercings cause minor trauma to the epidermis, stimulating collagen and elastin production to help smooth and soften the skin. What’s more, the Eclipse MicroPen® creates tiny channels in the skin, enabling serums and moisturizers to reach more deeply and produce more pleasing results.
If you are curious about the nonsurgical skin rejuvenation options offered at True Balance Longevity & Med Spa, please call our Sherwood Park office at 780-306-4331 to schedule a consultation. Dr. Brown also maintains offices in Spruce Grove and St. Albert to better serve the needs of people living throughout the region.
What Microneedling Treats
The Eclipse MicroPen® penetrates deep into your epidermis and the upper layers of the dermis to stimulate the healing response which results in:
- A reduction in fine lines and wrinkles
- Immediate improvement in skin texture
- A reduction in hyperpigmentation
- An evening-out of the skin tone
- The elimination of acne and cystic acne
- A reduction of pockmarks and scarring
- A reduction of blackheads
- General skin exfoliation for better absorption of moisturizers
The Eclipse MicroPen® can improve the appearance of uneven skin tone, acne scars, traumatic scars, and stretch marks. It can be used on nearly any part of the body, including the face, neck, décolleté, arms, hands, legs, abdomen, and back. During your initial consultation at one of our Alberta offices, we can assess your problem areas to help you determine where micro-needling may be the most beneficial for you.
Procedure and Results
The Eclipse MicroPen® procedure is assisted with a sterile saline solution that allows easy gliding over the treatment area. This motion is repeated until the entire treatment area has been covered. During treatment, it may feel like sandpaper being moved across the skin. While some areas will be more sensitive than others, the speed of the reciprocating tip makes the treatment comfortable for most patients.
A typical treatment takes between 15 and 30 minutes. Ideal results may take two to three treatments, spaced six to eight weeks apart, though some patients may experience good results after a single treatment.
Following each Eclipse MicroPen® session, you may notice a bright redness to the skin. The total healing time depends on the pen position used and the number of overlapping passes required to cover the entire treatment area. Redness may last from 24 hours to four days depending on the patient. You can help ease this process by utilizing the Eclipse Dermal Rejuvenation System™ for post-treatment healing.
Some of the results from the Eclipse MicroPen® will be immediate, but more dramatic results may take up to six months to be realized. Once results have been finalized, you should continue to see improved skin tone, texture, and quality for several years to come. These results may be enhanced through other nonsurgical treatments including PRP injections.
