BHRT

Mood swings, decreased libido, anxiety, joint pain, hot flashes, or weight gain can all result from imbalanced hormones.
T

here is no reason you should have to drag through life tired, anxious or dealing with mental fog. When we think of hormones, we often think of puberty in adolescence and menopause joining women later in life. There are 50 hormones throughout the body that regulate and control almost every task our bodies perform. As we age, the production of these hormones gradually declines. Hormone fluctuations can cause serious problems. For some men and women this decline is not an issue, others find their quality of life drastically decreases with this process. Mood swings, decreased libido, insomnia, anxiety, depression, unexplainable joint pain, or hot flashes can all result from imbalance hormones. Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) can help treat the cause of these unwanted symptoms and improve your quality of life.

What are bioidentical hormones?

To simplify things, bioidentical hormones are molecules that have the same structure as body-produced hormones, but are synthesized in a lab. The end molecule is biologically identical to the hormone produced in the body.

With bioidentical hormones, your tailored dosage and treatment plan is made specifically for you at a special compounding pharmacy. Our bioidentical hormone specialists are able to customize the components and specific dose of hormone amounts in your prescription.

Today, when you visit your family doctor to address a problem, that doctor is likely to look at your tests and determine the treatment plan from that starting point. Our clinic specializes in listening to your specific needs. Our specialists take into account your lifestyle, diet, and stressors in conjunction with your bloodwork results to develop a personalized program for you. We take the time to listen to how you feel, look at your results, and develop a prescription to reach the optimal hormone levels for you.

What are the

Benefits

There are a lot of hormone therapy options around, so why choose BHRT? The BHRT practice starts with evaluating your hormone levels and replacing them with hormones that are identical on a molecular basis to human hormones. On the other hand, synthetic hormones are by nature, not human identical. Synthetic hormones must be modified in order to get a patent — these modifications have resulted in complications with continuous use. Bioidentical hormone therapy is safer and just as effective as conventional synthetic hormone replacement therapy. We designed our BHRT program to improve your health and vitality as a whole. It isn’t about what is normal vs abnormal. We work with the patient and customize your plan to adjust any imbalances. This method also allows for precise adjustments throughout your treatment. This makes it far more flexible than one-size-fits-all hormones available at generic pharmacies.

The benefits of this advanced approach are:

  • Increased focus and concentration
  • Improved outlook and mood
  • Improved blood sugar balance
  • Improved prostate health
  • Improved cholesterol levels
  • Improved sexual performance
  • Improved muscle mass
  • Better quality of sleep
  • Greater libido
  • More energy and strength
  • Improved well-being

BHRT Process

Step 1 - Getting Started

To get started with BHRT all you have to do is pick up the phone! After you contact us, we will send you a blood requisition form by email or fax. Your blood work can be completed at any Dynalife or other lab that is convenient. We recommend this work be completed at least four weeks prior to your first visit.

Step 2 - Your First Visit

Your first visit will include a questionnaire focusing on your symptoms and concerns. A BHRT specialist will consult with you to determine your conditions and needs, and begin building your treatment plan.

Step 3 - Treatment

After your comprehensive evaluation, we will determine if BHRT would benefit you. Your treatment plan will be based on your medical history, symptoms, goals, and lab results. Your personalized plan will be a unique approach that may include a variety of paths such as nutrition, exercise, sleep and stress management.

Following your initial visit and development of your treatment plan, your prescription will be sent to one of our trusted compound companies. It may take a number of days for your prescription to be ready because only special compounding pharmacies can provide the expertise to safely and accurately manufacture your BHRT hormone prescriptions.

Step 4 - Follow-up Treatment Plan

The identification and prescription of appropriate hormones and supplements at proper levels requires careful supervision and ongoing monitoring. Around eight weeks after your treatment has begun, you will have your blood rechecked.

After your initial follow-up, we recommend another follow-up approximately four weeks later to review your blood work, therapy progress and symptom scores.  If appropriate, we will make adjustments to your prescription to optimize your treatment plan. Following this return visit, checkups are typically just once a year unless recommended otherwise by your BHRT specialist.

Progesterone

And it's role in the menstrual cycle.

Progesterone plays its role in the second half of the menstrual cycle. On day 14 of the menstrual cycle, progesterone production increases. This is a signal for the body to develop more blood vessels in the uterus. In the event of pregnancy, these additional blood vessels allow for the early growth of an embryo. It is very common for progesterone levels to fall from age 25-50 while estrogen production remains stable. This creates a situation of estrogen dominance, the most common hormone imbalance in cycling women. Progesterone deficiency symptoms are the same symptoms that occur with estrogen dominance.

Estrogen

It's role & why production decreases.

Estrogens are a group of steroid compounds mainly produced by follicles in the ovaries during a woman’s reproductive years. Estrogen is responsible for the “feminine” features of women and has action in 300 tissues of the body. Estrogen production in women is usually well maintained until menopause. Once menopause happens, the symptoms of estrogen deficiency typically develop. These include: fatigue, pain with intercourse, vaginal dryness, hot flashes, and much more.
