Tips10 TIPS FOR CLEAR SKIN!

10 TIPS FOR CLEAR SKIN!

Wear sunscreen and limit sun exposure

If you are struggling with skin imperfections you are definitely not alone. When you are in an ongoing battle with your complexion, your self confidence can really take a hit. You deserve to feel your absolute best in the skin you’re in. Below are some of our favorite tips to kickstart your journey to clear skin:

We all know the sun is bad for our skin — it can lead to premature wrinkles, sun spots and increases your risk for skin cancer. But, not only does the sun age our skin, it’s harmful rays can also build up dead skin cells, which can clog our pores and lead to breakouts. These ultraviolet rays also increase inflammation and redness, and could potentially aggravate pre-existing acne and scarring.

Do not rely on cleansing cloths or wipes

Yes, makeup wipes are convenient, but they are not an effective cleanser after a long day of dirt, oil and sweat build up. You can still use them, but don’t use them as a replacement for your cleanser.

Incorporate retinol into your skincare routine

Retinol has become a favorite of any skin care fanatic. It stimulates cell turnover, which helps with acne, wrinkles, texture and discoloration

Get a good night’s sleep

It’s called beauty sleep for a reason. When we sleep, our body releases human-growth-hormone which is responsible for collagen production. Skipping the recommended 7-9 hours can lead to higher cortisol levels which contributes to inflammation and interferes with collagen production.

Exfoliate

If you are prone to acne and breakouts, exfoliating should definitely be incorporated into your skin care routine. Exfoliating helps clean clogged pores, get rid of dead skin cells to encourage cell turnover, boost circulation, even skin tone and help skincare products penetrate deeper into our skin.

Avoid touching your face

Most of us touch our face more than we recognize. Each time we put our hands on our face, we transfer all the dirt, oil and bacteria from everything we touched onto our skin. This is one of the leading causes of clogged pores, which then lead to frustrating breakouts.

Clean your cellphone

Cellphones have a lot of benefits, but definitely not for your skin. Our phones are magnets for dirt and bacteria. Every time we make a call and put our phone up against our face, we introduce this dirt and bacteria onto our face which causes congested skin and stubborn breakouts.

Keep a healthy diet

We spend so much time worried about the products we put on our faces, but science has shown that when we eat healthy our skin reflects it. Nutritious foods and vitamins don’t just benefit our bodies, but our complexion as well. If you maintain a diet high in antioxidants and healthy fats your skin will thank you.

Keep your skin moisturized

Just like cleansing and wearing sunscreen, using a good moisturizer is extremely important for clear skin. Moisturizing keeps your skin cells healthy and protects it from irritation. When skin gets dehydrated and irritated, it can lead to a variety of skin issues.

Try microneedling, facials, chemical peels or other spa services

Sometimes our skin just needs a little extra help. Whether you want to treat acne, even and smooth texture, or brighten your skin, getting some help from professionals is one of the best ways to address your skin imperfections.
